reflection

how was the process of construction? : the small weaving based on lines was enjoyable. the construction of the big installation piece was simple as with large abstract installations there is no pressure to make it look "right". The transferal process was relatively simple; we attached all the string to poles from the four main anchor points being the skip, tree and railing and brought it inside to hang flat against the wall.

group work: one of the questions in the small weaving task was where we were all from, which while didn't necessarily make it into line onto the loom, was an idea that carried over to the large installation. we each had our own string to do with what we pleased, often interacting with other strings and building up a web over time. we started out with the idea of linking nature to the man made, with bridging the gap between the tree and the railing with our string, again with the theme of interconnectedness.

where and why the location: it served as a good place for a large installation, with the tree being anchored to the railing. this worked to fill the space in a way that wasn't obtrusive to regular people walking around but served a visual function. the added nature of the string and lines moving in the wind was a nice unexpected touch.
