reflection

i dislike the process of everything done today; it did not feel fulfilling nor achieving a meaningful purpose/end result.

the end silhouettes though of the brown paper experiments turned out better than i though they would have; i especially like the silhouette of the one my partner modelled on me because it showcases his pattern very well and has a nice curve. in my spare time i might look to recreate this as a genuine piece of clothing.

mine wasn't very successful, but towards the end i liked the very 'dropped crotch' look the "trouser" part of the experiment had. we put a chain to keep it together at the hip, which worked well. we could have done more with the top neck/shoulder part to exaggerate the silhouette more.

the weaving done earlier was just blind experimentation with paper as a weaving material. i quite like the fish scale effect it gave, and if extrapolated into a larger fabric it would make for an interesting effect.

overall, this project has felt like wading through muddy water and i believe i do not want to pursue textiles as a specialism. it is too much play with materials without a substantial backing of thought or concept, which i appreciate will develop over part 2 and 3, but i do not wish to stick around for that long.
